Sayulita has grocery stores
where you can get most everything, but it does not have places where you
can purchase up-scale foodstuffs. Just south of the PV airport on Rte.
200 is the Plaza Marina shopping center. It has a large supermarket, two
moneychangers, US newspapers, restaurants and three banks. In addition,
just a little further south there is a Wal-Mart and a Sam’s. Anything
that you need can be found there. Sayulita is about 21 miles (35kms) north of the Puerto Vallarta’s international airport. Upon exiting the airport take a right and then an immediate left towards Compostela and Tepic. Proceed north on coastal Highway 200 following the signs to Compostela and Tepic. After approximately twenty minutes you will pass through the town of Bucerias. Continue north on Rte. 200 bearing left, past the turnoff to Punta de Mita, towards Tepic. There is a military checkpoint there where you most likely will be waved through. They are checking for drugs and weapons. The highway then becomes more winding. Watch for animals grazing along the road and slow moving vehicles. You will pass signs for several small villages. After passing San Ignacio watch for a sign on your right that says "Sayulita 3km". That will be your turn - a left hand turn. Be careful - in Mexico a left hand turn signal often means that it is OK to pass. To be safe signal with your arm also, or pull off to the right and wait for traffic to pass before turning left. Go approximately 3 kms. along the main paved road. At the first opportunity bear to the right and do not go over the bridge. Proceed along the paved road and take a right onto the second dirt road, Calle Miramar. There is a orange house on the corner. Drive straight towards the beach and at the second intersection take a right onto Avenida de Palmar, the Hotel Diamante will be on the right. (If you proceed straight through to the beach you will find Terrazola Restaruant where you can have a great meal or snack.) Proceed north along the beach frontage road. When you get to the cobblestone part of the road follow it to the top of the second hill. The large light brown house on the left is Casa Mariluna, 94 Ave. del Palmar,. The name of the house is on the right side of the front door. Park out front while you remove your luggage. You can move the car to the parking area below after you are comfortable. It is important that you inform us of your time of arrival in PV. The property manager, Dennis, should be at Mariluna to welcome you, familiarize you with the house and answer any questions. If you arrive late the keys to the house will be in a lock box on the front door. The combination will be provided before your arrival. Dennis will check in with you periodically to see how you’re doing. Please enjoy and care for
this beautiful home as much as I do. We look forward to your visit. |
